M&T was established in 2006 by Melissa and Tony Perkins.  This shop was originally opened as a part time hobby for Melissa and her husband after they both retired from public jobs.  Being located in a prime location for the famous 127 Corridor Yard Sale,  they would buy various antiques, collectibles and household items for resale in a store that was only open on a hit and miss basis and during the 127 sale.  The hodgepodge country store quickly took off and just a few months later they had normal business hours Thursday-Saturday.  It only took one year of being open during the 127 yard sale for the couple to realize they had more than just a part time hobby on their hands.  People wanted more from the store and they rose to the challenge.  The next year was spent remodeling the current store, adding on a spacious extension and spending lots of time looking for the perfect merchandise for their country and primitive store.  Stepping away from the antiques and specializing more in the primitive décor and gifts, M&T has become a big attraction in rural Owen County, KY.

Now, more than five years later, M&T is a favorite of many customers from Owenton and surrounding counties.  The 127 Yard Sale has brought many returning customers to the store every year from all over the United States.  Many “yard salers” comment that M&T is one of their favorite stops on the 675 mile stretch of the sale.

M&T carries a wide array of country and primitive décor and gifts including Candleberry Candles, Olde Century Paints, Amish made furniture, lighting, linens, pottery, bathroom and kitchen accessories, pictures, Bella Taylor handbags, bed sets, rugs, seasonal decorations and custom made furniture and accessories by their very own, Tony Perkins.  All of their items are hand chosen by Melissa and reasonably priced for their customers.

Owners, Melissa and Tony, enjoy providing their customers with a small town experience when they visit the store.  They know all their customers by name and most on a personal level.  With their rewards program and birthday discounts for all customers, their patrons feel welcome and appreciated from the first time they walk through the doors.  They even ship merchandise to some of their out of town customers that happen upon the store either during travel or on the 127 Corridor route.

From the aroma of the famous Hot Maple Toddy candle to the designing advice you’ll get from Melissa, M&T is a definite “must stop” in rural Owen County, KY.
